Men’s Cross-Country Team Makes History, Wins First PSUAC Championship

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre men’s cross-country team made school and conference history on Saturday afternoon. The team won the first PSUAC team championship in school history and became the first school other than Penn College to win the championship since 2004.

In the men’s race, freshman Jason Carey won the team’s second consecutive PSUAC men’s individual championship, finishing first overall. Carey, along with junior Chris Monahan and freshman Shane McCrory, who finished fourth and sixth, earned PSUAC All-Conference honors. Freshman David Yunkunis finished ninth, while junior Tyler Shelly finished thirteenth, earning Second Team All-Conference honors.

In the women’s cross-country race at the PSUAC Championships, junior Emily Pszeniczny and freshman Ashley Oliver finished third and fourth overall, earning PSUAC All-Conference honors. Freshman Azalee McAlpine finished eleventh, earning PSUAC Second Team All-Conference honors.

The team will next compete at the USCAA National Championships in Syracuse, NY, on November 8th.
