Brathwaite Earns USCAA All-American Honors

3/5/14 – Senior Tiaira Brathwaite was named USCAA Women’s Basketball All-American Honorable Mention. Brathwaite averaged a double-double on the season for Wilkes-Barre, with 11 points per game and 10.6 rebounds per game. Brathwaite finished her career at Wilkes-Barre with over 1,000 points. Congratulations, Tiaira!

Brathwaite Named PSUAC All-Conference

3/5/14 – Senior Tiaira Brathwaite was named PSUAC Women’s Basketball All-Conference Honorable Mention. Brathwaite averaged a double-double on the season for Wilkes-Barre, with 11 points per game and 10.6 rebounds per game. Her 10.6 rebounds ranked her fifth in the PSUAC. Brathwaite finished her career at Wilkes-Barre with over 1,000 points. Congratulations, Tiaira!

Lady Mountain Lions End Season with a Close Loss

2/16/14 - The Penn State Wilkes-Barre women's basketball team lost a close game at Penn State Mont Alto by a score of 72-70 on Sunday afternoon. Not only did senior Tiara Braithwaite lead the night, she also recorded a double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Helping her out were freshman Breana Moore, who had 19 points on the night, and freshman Katelyn McLaughlin, who added 18. Putting up a good fight, the Mountain Lions end their season 8-16 overall and 5-10 in the PSUAC.

Mountain Lions Lose at Beaver

2/12/14 - The Penn State Wilkes-Barre women's basketball team lost to Penn State Beaver on Wednesday night by a score of 48-76, which moves the Lady Mountain Lions to 5-9 in the PSUAC and 8-15 overall. Starting freshman Breana Moore had 19 points on the night, while starting senior Tiara Brathwaite added 13 points. The team will play next at Penn State Mont Alto, Saturday, February at 1:00 pm.

Wilkes-Barre Defeats Penn College with Help of Senior

2/10/14 - The Penn State Wilkes-Barre women's basketball team defeated Penn College Monday evening 65-55. This win increased their record to 5-8 in the PSUAC and 8-14 overall. This was not just an ordinary win, but kicked off a spectacular celebration of our senior athletes on our first ever Senior Night White Out! Congratulations to senior Tiara Brathwaite who had 15 points on the night! The team was led by freshman Breana Moore with 24 points for the Lady Mountain Lions, while freshman Katelyn McLaughlin scored 18 points. Wilkes-Barre will play next when they travel to Penn State Beaver on Wednesday February 12 at 6:00 pm.

Wilkes-Barre Falls to Penn State Brandywine

2/8/14 - The Penn State Wilkes-Barre women's basketball team fell to Penn State Brandywine on Saturday afternoon 50-72. The loss moved the team to 4-8 in the PSUAC and 7-14 overall. Senior Tiaira Brathwaite led the team while recording a double-double with 22 points and 19 rebounds. Freshman Breana Moore added 12 points for the Lady Mountain Lions. The women’s basketball team will play again on Monday, February 10th at 6:00 pm, when they host Penn College.

Wilkes-Barre Women’s Basketball Defeats PSU Schuylkill

2/7/14 - The Penn State Wilkes-Barre women's basketball team defeated Penn State Schuylkill on Friday evening by a score of 42-38. This win improved the team’s record in the PSUAC to 4-7 and 7-13 overall. Freshman Katelyn McLaughlin scored 16 points for the Lady Mountain Lions, while freshman Breana Moore added 11 for the team. The team will play next tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 pm, when they host Penn State Brandywine.

Wilkes-Barre Women’s Basketball Falls to PSU Fayette

2/1/14 - The Penn State Wilkes-Barre women's basketball team lost to Penn State Fayette on Saturday afternoon by a score of 65-52. The loss moved the team's record to 3-7 in the PSUAC and 6-13 overall. Freshman Breana Moore scored an outstanding 26 points for the Lady Mountain Lions, while freshman Sierra Eskridge added 11 points. The team will play next on Saturday, February 7th at 1:00 pm when they host Penn State Schuylkill.

Wilkes-Barre Defeats LCCC

1/30/14 - The Penn State Wilkes-Barre women’s basketball team won against Luzerne County Community College Thursday night 49-38. The win improved the team’s record to 6-12 overall. Wilkes-Barre was led by senior Tiara Brathwaite’s outstanding 23 points, while freshman Katelyn McLaughlin added 11 points. Wilkes-Barre will play again Saturday, February 1st at 1:00 pm, when they host Penn State Fayette.

Penn State Wilkes-Barre Loses to PSU Hazleton

1/27/14 - The Penn State Wilkes-Barre women’s basketball team lost Monday night to Penn State Hazleton by a score of 71-39. Wilkes-Barre is now 3-6 in the PSUAC and 5-12 overall. Freshman Katelyn McLaughlin led the Lady Mountain Lions with 10 points, while senior Tiara Brathwaite scored 9 and freshman Breana Moore had 8. The team will play next when they host Luzerne County Community College on Thursday night at 6:00 pm.

Penn State Wilkes-Barre Falls at PSU Worthington Scranton

1/22/14 - The Penn State Wilkes-Barre women’s basketball team lost at Penn State Worthington Scranton 43-67 on Wednesday evening. The loss moved the team’s record in the PSUAC to 3-5, and 5-11 overall. Freshman Breana Moore put up 21 points, and freshman Katelyn McLaughlin scored 12 points for the Lady Mountain Lions. The team will next play when they travel to Penn State Beaver on Saturday at 1:00 pm.

Wilkes-Barre Falls to Penn College

1/18/14 - The Penn State Wilkes-Barre women’s basketball team lost to Penn College by a score of 57-41 on Saturday afternoon. The Mountain Lions’ overall record moved to 5-10 and 3-4 in the PSUAC. Senior Tiaira Brathwaite led the team with 13 points, while freshman Breana Moore added 9. Penn State Wilkes-Barre will travel to Penn State Worthington Scranton on Wednesday night at 6:00 pm.

Women’s Basketball Loses to Penn State York

1/16/14 - The Penn State Wilkes-Barre women’s basketball team lost on the road on Thursday night to Penn State York by a score of 56-83. Wilkes-Barre is now 3-3 in the PSUAC and 5-9 overall. Senior Tiaira Brathwaite led the Lady Mountain Lions with 18 points, while freshman Katelyn McLaughlin scored 13 points. The team will play next at Penn College on Saturday, January 18th at 1:00 pm.

Women’s Basketball Falls at PSU Lehigh Valley

12/13/13 - The Penn State Wilkes-Barre women’s basketball team lost at Penn State Lehigh Valley on Friday night by a score of 51-61. The loss moved the team’s record in the PSUAC to 3-2 and 4-6 overall. Freshman Breana Moore and senior Tiaira Brathwaite had 15 points each for the Lady Mountain Lions. The team will next play after the new year when they face Penn State York on January 16th at 6:00 pm.

Women’s Basketball Defeats PSU Hazleton

12/11/13 – The Penn State Wilkes-Barre women’s basketball won at Penn State Hazleton on Wednesday night 61-54. The win improved the team’s record to 3-1 in the PSUAC and 5-7 overall. The Lady Mountain Lions were led by senior Tiaira Brathwaite’s double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Katelyn McLaughlin added 12 points, while freshman Sierra Eskridge led Wilkes-Barre on the board with 13 rebounds. Wilkes-Barre’s final game before the Christmas break will be Friday at Penn State Lehigh Valley (Stabler Arena on the campus of Lehigh University)  at 6:00 pm.

Women’s Basketball Loses First PSUAC Game

12/07/13 – The Penn State Wilkes-Barre women’s basketball team lost their first PSUAC conference game of the season to Penn State Allegheny by a score of 51-44. Wilkes-Barre’s record moves to 4-7 overall and 2-1 in PSUAC. Freshman Breana Moore finished the night with 14 points, while freshman Kian Wright added 11 points and 9 rebounds. Junior Tiaira Brathwaite grabbed 14 rebounds for the Lady Mountain Lions. Penn State Wilkes-Barre will next play on Wednesday, December 11th at Penn State Hazleton at 6:00 pm.

Women’s Basketball Moves to 2-0 in PSUAC

12/06/13 - The Penn State Wilkes-Barre women’s basketball team improved to 2-0 in the PSUAC to start the conference season by defeating Penn State DuBois by a score of 66-52. Wilkes-Barre’s record moves to 4-6 overall and 2-0 in PSUAC. Freshman Katelyn McLaughlin finished the night with 17 points, while freshman Kian Wright added 15 points and 11 rebounds. Junior Tiaira Brathwaite finished the night with 11 points and 7 rebounds. Penn State Wilkes-Barre will next play on Saturday at home against Penn State Greater Allegheny at 1:00 pm.

Women’s Basketball Win Conference Opener

12/03/13 - The Penn State Wilkes-Barre Women’s Basketball team won their PSUAC conference opener on Tuesday night, defeating Penn State Worthington Scranton by the score of 59-54.  Wilkes-Barre’s record moved to 3-6 overall and 1-0 in PSUAC.  Junior Tiaira Brathwaite finished the night with a double-double, scoring seventeen points and grabbing twelve rebounds. Freshman Katelyn McLaughlin added sixteen points, while sophomore Jalicia Robinson also added eleven points, five rebounds and five steals.  Penn State Wilkes-Barre will next play on Friday at home against Penn State DuBois at 6:00 pm.

Wilkes-Barre Loses Close Battle With King’s College

12/02/13 - The Penn State Wilkes-Barre women’s basketball team lost to King’s College by a score of 58-52.  Wilkes-Barre’s overall record moved to 2-6. Wilkes-Barre showed tremendous fight throughout the entire contest against the local NCAA Division III team. Freshman Kian Wright ended the night with a double-double, scoring thirteen points and pulling down fourteen rebounds. Freshman Breana Moore added nineteen points and four steals. Penn State Wilkes-Barre will next host Penn State Worthington-Scranton tomorrow night at 6:00 pm to open up PSUAC Conference play.

Women’s Basketball Falls to Misericordia

11/22/13 - The Penn State Wilkes-Barre women’s basketball team lost at Misericordia University by a score of 80-35 on Friday night.  Wilkes-Barre’s overall record moved to 2-5. Freshman Breana Moore ended the night with fifteen points, while sophomore Jalicia Robinson added twelve points. Senior Tiaira Brathwaite helped defensively by bringing down nine rebounds. Penn State Wilkes-Barre will next travel to King’s College on Monday, December 2nd at 7:00 pm.

Women’s Basketball Loses to Stevens Tech

11/20/13 -The Penn State Wilkes-Barre women’s basketball team lost at home to Stevens Institute of Technology by the score of 48-32 on Wednesday night.  This was Wilkes-Barre’s third consecutive game against an NCAA Division III opponent. Wilkes-Barre’s overall record moved to 2-3.  Freshman Kian Wright ended the night with thirteen points, four rebounds and three steals.  Penn State Wilkes-Barre will next travel to Misericordia University on Friday for a 7:00 pm game.

Women’s Basketball Win at NCAA Division III Baptist Bible

11/19/13 - The Penn State Wilkes-Barre Women’s Basketball team beat Baptist Bible by the score of 46-42 on Tuesday night.  Wilkes-Barre’s overall record improves to 2-3 on the season.  This was a huge win for the Lady Mountain Lions, as they defeated a NCAA Division III program. Freshman Breana Moore ended the night with twenty points, six rebounds and four steals, while junior Tiaira Brathwaite added ten points, seven rebounds and four assists.  Penn State Wilkes-Barre will next host Stevens Tech on Wednesday night at 6 pm.

Penn State Wilkes-Barre Loses to the College of St. Elizabeth

11/16/13 - The Penn State Wilkes-Barre women’s basketball team lost to College of St. Elizabeth by a score of 56-79 in the consolation game of the Lady Cyclone Tip-Off Tournament. Wilkes-Barre’s record moved to 1-3 overall.  Freshman Brenna Moore finished the night with twenty points, five rebounds and four steals, earning her All-Tournament honors. Freshman Kian Wright added twelve points, twelve rebounds and three steals. Penn State Wilkes-Barre will next host Stevens Tech on Wednesday, November 20th at 6:00 pm.

Penn State Wilkes-Barre Falls to Centenary College

11/15/13 - The Penn State Wilkes-Barre women’s basketball team lost to Centenary College by a score of 49-60 in the first round of the Lady Cyclone Tip-Off Tournament. Wilkes-Barre’s overall record moved to 1-2. The Lady Mountain Lions kept it close for most of the game against the NCAA Division III opponent. Freshman Kian Wright ended the night with fifteen points, twelve rebounds, four steals, and three blocks, while freshman Brenna Moore added eighteen points and five rebounds. Penn State Wilkes-Barre will next play College of St. Elizabeth on Saturday. 

Wilkes-Barre Women’s Basketball Defeats LCCC

 11/7/13 – The Penn State Wilkes-Barre women’s basketball team won its away game against Luzerne County Community College 60-25, moving their record to 1-1 overall. Freshman Kian Wright had a double-double, with foureen points and sixteen rebounds. Helping defensively, Senior Tiaira Brathwaite pulled down sixteen rebounds.  Sophomore Jalicia Robinson had fourteen points, seven rebound’s and six assists. Penn State Wilkes-Barre will next travel to Centenary College for their tip-off on Friday, November 15th, at 6:00 pm.

Penn State Wilkes-Barre’s Women’s Basketball Falls To Davis College

11/5/13 - The Penn State Wilkes-Barre (0-1) women’s basketball team lost to Davis College on Tuesday night, falling 68-60. The Mountain Lions were strong all game, keeping within ten points of Davis; unfortunately they couldn’t find eight points in the end. Freshman Brenna Moore led the team with nineteen points, six rebounds, three steals and three assists, while freshman Kian Wright and senior Tiaira Brathwaite had double-doubles. Wright had ten points, fifteen rebounds and two assists, and Brathwaite had eleven points and twelve rebounds. Penn State Wilkes-Barre will next travel to Luzerne County Community College on Thursday at 6:00 pm.

Women’s Basketball Team Preview

10/21/13 - The Lady Mountain Lions, under the leadership of new head coach Ron Strothers, have been preparing for the 2013-14 season. Strothers says, "This year’s team is young, with five freshmen on the squad. The team has been working hard so far and I am happy with their effort; we also return several upperclassmen that will be relied upon for leadership."

Returning players from last season include USCAA All-American junior Tiaira Brathwaite (Rockaway Park, NY), senior Tiffany Denny-Rochester (Fredricksburg, VA), and sophomores Olivia Lewis (Coatsville, PA) and Jalicia Robinson (Wyandanch, NY).

New to the team are senior Isaura Olivares (Santo Domingo, DR), and freshmen Kian Wright (Ambler, PA), Simone Person (Bushkill, PA), Breana Moore (Allentown, PA), Katelyn McLaughlin (Doglistown, PA) and Sierra Eskridge (Ambler, PA).

The Lady Mountain Lions open up their season at home against Davis College on Tuesday, November 5th, at 6:00 pm.
