Community Service Week planned

12/15/2006 —

In memory of Martin Luther King, Jr., the faculty, staff, and students at Penn State Wilkes-Barre will participate in a week-long community service event to benefit four local charitable organizations: the Domestic Violence Service Center, the Victims' Resource Center, the SPCA, and the Back Mountain Food Pantry.

The Campus Environment Team, faculty and staff teams, and campus clubs and organizations will collect a variety of goods to donate. Donations will be accepted from noon to 1:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, January 15 – 19, in the Student Commons Room With a View. Items being accepted are: soap, shampoo, paper towels, underwear, socks, toiletries, crayons, colored pencils, pens, activity books, construction paper, cat and dog food, and canned goods and non-perishables.

A compilation of Mr. King's accomplishments will also be on display.
