Branch Management School new this spring

1/30/2003 —
The Branch Management School (BMS), a program designed for bankers, will be offered this spring by Penn State University, in conjunction with the PA Association of Community Bankers. BMS was designed by the Center for Financial Training, Mid-Atlantic Region and offers proven strategies for branch managers, assistant managers, management trainees, and teller supervisors who are looking for the tools, techniques, and strategies needed to manage their bank branch. Instructional activities to enhance analytical, management, and communication skills are also offered.

The class format will include lecture, group work, and case studies. The program consists of twelve instructional modules that include topics such as sales skills; building and leading successful teams; consumer, commercial, and small business lending; effective communication; fundamentals of marketing; business writing; and security concerns.

Attendance at all of the six full-day sessions is required to complete the program and earn the Penn State certificate. Students will also be awarded 0.1 Continuing Education Credits (CEU) for each contact hour.

BMS will be offered at five Penn State locations including Penn State Wilkes-Barre and Hazleton. Classes at Penn State Wilkes-Barre will start on March 18 and run through April 23, 2003 at the campus in Lehman. Classes in Hazleton will run from April 23 through May 28 at the Patriot Inn in Bloomsburg.
