Sherlock Holmes Society Reading Group to meet

1/30/2003 —
Calling all amateur detectives! Grab your Inverness cape, deerstalker hat and pipe and join other fans of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s legendary criminologist at the charter meeting of the Sherlock Holmes Society Reading Group on Thurs., Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. Sponsored by the Penn State Hazleton and Penn State Wilkes-Barre campus bookstores, the group will meet at the Barnes and Noble Superstore, Arena Hub Plaza, Wilkes-Barre.

The group will begin with “A Study in Scarlet,” the first of the Sherlock Holmes stories and the first of Conan Doyle's books to be published. In this fascinating and exciting tale, the two towering creations of detective fiction--Holmes, the master of the science of detection, and Watson, his faithful companion--make their auspicious debut. The two detectives are immediately in fine form as Holmes plucks the solution to the mystery from the heart of Victorian London.

Copies of the book are available at the Penn State Hazleton Bookstore, the Penn State Wilkes-Barre Bookstore or Barnes and Noble. For more information on the discussion group, call (570) 675-9230 or (570) 450-3100.
