Penn State community celebrates Orange Bowl
Penn State Wilkes-Barre, Penn State Wilkes-Barre Alumni Constituent Society, and the Penn State Chapter of Wyoming Valley came together Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at The Waterfront, in Plains, to show their Penn State pride. The three groups sponsored a TV Tailgate party to watch the Penn State Nittany Lions take on the Flordia State Seminoles in the Orange Bowl. About 100 Penn State fans enjoyed blue and white pom-poms, a buffet of tailgate style food, a free half-time prize raffle, and a great football game. Local newspapers and TV stations were present throughout the night to do interviews and get photographs of proud Penn State fans. Though the game went into triple overtime in the wee-hours of the morning, many of the fans stayed, tried and true, through the end to see the Nittany Lions beat the Seminoles 26 to 23.
