Executive Management Series

The Executive Management Series is scheduled biannually in the spring and fall to address a variety of pressing issues of importance to the community’s business leaders. Topics addressed since the series’ premier in 1999 have included recruitment and retention challenges, e-commerce issues, marketing trends, and leadership in difficult times. The events also introduce participants to Penn State resources. This enables them to further address problems their organizations may be experiencing related to the topics of discussion in the series.

If there is a topic you are interested in learning about that would serve your business needs, please email us at wbce@outreach.psu.edu. Your input is very valuable to us and your ideas are welcome.

Spring 2015 Series

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre’s Executive Management Series: NEPA's Major Federal Facilities: Economic Engines for our Region was held on April 29, 2015.

The Tobyhanna Army Depot and the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center are two large federal government facilities which are also two of the region’s major economic engines. The keynote speakers discussed what’s new at these two facilities and their economic impact on NEPA and provided facility statistics and information on the range of services offered to support members of our Armed Forces, the community, and local businesses.

Keynote Speakers were:

Colonel Gerhard P.R. Schroter, the 30th commander of Tobyhanna Army Depot, the Defense Department’s largest facility for the repair, overhaul, and integration of Command, Control, Communications, Computer, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance systems.

Dr. Michael Adelman was appointed Medical Center Director at the VA Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre on June 1, 2014. As Director at Wilkes-Barre, Dr. Adelman is responsible for medical care to veterans in northeastern Pennsylvania and Tioga County in New York.

Check back in late summer or early fall 2015 for announcements on our next Executive Management Series.
