Women in the Sciences and Engineering (WISE)

Penn State Wilkes-Barre will be conducting another Women in the Sciences and Engineering (WISE) program in 2013 for young women in grades 6-8.  The primary mission of the WISE program is to facilitate the entry and success of women in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).

The focus of the 2013 WISE program will be The 3 Dimensional World.  Students will learn how to design an object, then fabricate the object using 3D printing technology.  They will be using the CubeX 3D printer. The young women also engaged in interactive career exploration activities, received valuable information about STEM occupations, and visit a local business to see 3 dimensional technology in the workforce.  Celeste Baine, a biomedical engineer, and award-winning author of over 20 books on engineering education and careers will be presenting information on engineering disciplines via a live Skype broadcast from her home in Oregon.
