As an Adult Learner, there are four ways to begin taking for-credit classes at Penn State. The admissions process varies depending upon which of these categories you fall into. Please click on the appropriate link below.

- First-Year Student
A First-Year Student is a degree candidate who has earned a high school diploma or the equivalent and who has attempted fewer than 18 credits at another college or university. If you would like to earn an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (either full time or part time) through Penn State Wilkes-Barre and have taken fewer than 18 credits at another college or university, apply for First-Year Admission. -
- Transfer Student
A Transfer Student is a degree candidate who has earned a high school diploma or the equivalent and who has attempted at least 18 semester credits at another college or university. If you would like to earn an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (either full time or part time) through Penn State Wilkes-Barre and have taken 18 or more credits at another college or university, apply for Transfer Admission. -
- Reenrollment Degree Candidate
A Reenrollment Degree Candidate is an individual who has been enrolled as a degree candidate at Penn State in the past and wants to return. If you would like to earn an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (either full time or part time) through Penn State Wilkes-Barre and have previously been enrolled in a degree program at any Pennn State location, fill out the Reenrollment Request Form and send it to:

- Non-Degree Student
If you are interested in earning a credit certificate or taking for-credit classes without earning a degree, simply fill out the Undergraduate Non-Degree Enrollment Application and send it to:

Please note: For-credit courses may later be applied to a degree program. -
